備中松山藩年寄役で、鳥羽・伏見の戦い（１８６８）では藩主板倉勝静（かつきよ）（１８２３〜８９）の親衛隊長として活躍した熊田（くまた）恰（あたか）（１８２５〜６８）が、藩主の命で玉島まで帰着しながら、岡山藩などから朝敵として征討をうけた松山藩から帰藩を許されず、配下１５０余名の助命嘆願書を記して玉島で切腹した事件のいきさつを記したもの。著者不明。表紙に「松山熊田恰様御切腹始末写　此主樋口定造」とあり、同筆で巻末に「明治二歳巳正月調之」とあるので、事件の翌年にあたる明治２年（１８６９）に樋口定造が写した写本と推測される。（文責：岡山県立図書館）
