サービス・ラーニングとは、「サービス（貢献活動）とラーニング（学習）をつなげ、ボランティア活動を学外で行い、その活動体験を通して学びを獲得することを目指す教育（村上、2007）」である。本研究では、本学で展開されている体験型学習の前後をつなぐ教育プログラムとしてサービス・ラーニングプログラムを確立したいと考えた。そして、共生という大きな枠組みのもと、1）地域との共生に基づく地域課題解決、2）自然環境との共生に基づく環境保全、3）人種を超えた共生に基づく異文化理解の3つの分野でのサービス・ラーニングの在り方について検討を進めた。本研究は3年間の計画で進められており、今年度は2年目にあたった。今年度は1）と3）の分野については新たに7名の学生を迎え、地域のニーズ調査や観光地の外国語表記の収集及び修正の提案等を取り入れ、プログラムの充実を図った。2）については、昨年度と同様に実践経済学科の2年生を対象とした基礎演習内で芳賀ゼミとしての活動を行ったことに加え、新たに3年生の専門演習としての取組みを行った。
