Note (General): 情報理論は、与えられたシステムにおける符号化問題の理論的限界を数理的な情報量を用いて明確にすると共に、その理論限界を達成する符号化法を明確にすることを目的としている。近年、Arikanは確率過程の分極操作に基づいたpolar符号と呼ばれる新しいクラスの符号を提案している。polar符号は、定常無記憶情報源及び対称通信路の理論的限界を低計算複雑度と低空間複雑度で達成できることを明らかにしている。polar符号は、多端子符号化問題を含め様々な符号化問題に対して、その理論的限界を低計算複雑度と低空間複雑度で達成する符号の構成法に関して一つの基本的な原理をもたらすことが期待される。本稿では、polar符号を情報源符号化と通信路符号化について紹介するとともに、polar符号のCプログラミングによろ例を紹介する。
