Note (General): 本研究課題の目的は、センターが有する世界有数の高強度テラヘルツ光源 (ジャイロトロン)と高性能テラヘルツ時間領域分光装置を活用して、これまでにないテラヘルツ(THz)帯の非線形分光法、特に生体高分子を対象とした非線形分光手法を開拓することである。タンパク質等の生体高分子の吸収スペクトルは、不均一広がりにより、その固有の振動モードに対応した吸収バンドを観測することが困難とされているが、高強度の電磁波照射による吸収飽和を利用した、いわゆるホールバーニング分光により、観測される可能性がある。テラヘルツ帯では、これまでホールバーニング分光に利用できる簡便な高出力光源がないため、報告例がなかった。我々はテラヘルツ帯のホールバーニング分光を実現するためのパルスジャイロトロンの整備とOrotron発振器を用いた基礎実験を行ったので報告する。
