本研究は、神経性食欲不振症の子どもを持つ父親の思いに焦点をあて、家族支援システムモデルの検討を行ない一資料とすることを目的とする。同意の得られた父親4名を対象に半構成的面接を行ない、得られたデータを分析した結果、以下のことが明らかになった。1.子どもの病状に沿って変化する父親の「生まれかわる」という過程が見出された。これは、『静観』『修復』『破壊』『再構築』から構成され、それぞれサブカテゴリーが存在した。2.「生まれかわる」とは、父親が価値観や家族観の変化を受け入れる過程であるとともに、子どもの発症前と異なる家族システムを構築しようとする過程であった。3.家族支援システムモデルは、病院の中で看護師が役割を担うことであった。特にその役割は、「生まれかわる」過程の第3過程にある父親に対して、父親が考えや思いを表現できる場の提供を行ない傾聴することが重要であると考えた。
