Note (General): 遺跡は、ひたちなか市のほぼ中央、本郷川左岸の標高約27mの台地上に位置する。 2005年度の発掘調査では、弥生時代後期、古墳時代前期・後期、奈良時代、平安時代の住居跡43基が検出されたが、3基の住居跡は2012年度の調査となった。住居跡の規模は、弥生時代の第47号住居跡が長軸9.29mともっとも大きく、次いで奈良時代の第32号住居跡が長軸8.61mを測る。古墳時代前期や後期にも7mを超える住居跡が存在し、平安時代を除いて6m代のやや大型の住居跡が多く存在する傾向にある。注目される遺物としては、弥生時代の住居跡から、同時代としては市内で初となるガラス小玉58点が出土した。古墳時代後期の住居跡からは、ベンガラが詰まった小型の壺が出土した。また、石製模造品の斧や鎌等が出土し、斧は市内で初の出土である。奈良時代では、「山田文マ子夜児」と刻まれた文字瓦が出土した。
