Note (General): 同事業による天花寺丘陵地内発掘調査の最終次｡天花寺城跡では､良好な土塁・堀が確認できたものの､それ以外の遺構や遺物が極めて少なく､戦時の城館と判断｡小谷赤坂遺跡は､縄文時代晩期～古代にかけての複合遺跡｡縄文晩期では土器棺､弥生前期では住居跡を確認｡いずれも当丘陵内でははじめての例｡弥生後期では竪穴住居群・掘立柱建物・環濠２条を確認｡後期前半に限定される良好な遺跡で､丘陵上集落の典型例と考えられる｡奈良時代では､弥生後期の環濠跡地から土馬・須恵器が出土｡当地周辺にある一志郡衙関連遺跡に関係と想定｡小谷古墳群は28・29 号墳の調査で､５世紀後葉～６世紀初頭頃｡丘陵北斜面にあたり､今回の調査ではじめて確認された｡巻末には天花寺丘陵内発掘調査の総括編を掲載し､調査資料活用の一助とした｡
