Note (General): 田渕遺跡は、江の川とその支流である奥谷川に挟まれた段丘上の遺跡である。両河川の度重なる氾濫により非常に厚い堆積層が存在し、近世以降は主として畑作地として利用されていたと考えられる。表土下約2~3ｍでは、主に12世紀から13世紀にかけての遺構や遺物が出土している。遺構は、柵列もしくは塀を構成すると推定される柱穴列や、土師質土器を一括廃棄したと考えられる土器溜まりが発見された。出土遺物には、これらの遺構に伴う土師質土器の坏や皿、中国製陶磁器類、国産の陶磁器類がある。また小型の鉄製品を製作したと考えられる小鍛冶炉が3ヶ所確認され、周囲からは羽口片や滓などの関連遺物も出土した。滓には流動滓などの製鉄・精錬関連遺物も見られ、周辺に鈩などの遺跡が存在した可能性がある。
