Note (General)：: 本遺跡は持留川とその支流に挟まれた標高約50 ｍのシラス台地縁辺部に位置し，旧石器時代～近世の複合遺跡である。　主となる時代は，中世である。従来，大隅半島の古代～中世は発掘調査事例が少なかった。本遺跡では，土坑墓や地下式坑など，大隅半島の当該時期を考える上で，貴重な資料となる遺構が発見された。
