Note (General): [新道４遺跡要約] 　遺跡は、JR木古内駅から南西へ約1.8km、木古内川と建有川に挟まれた低位海岸段丘上に立地し、標高は15〜20mである。新道4遺跡の4冊目の報告書である。北海道新幹線の建設工事に伴う発掘調査である。昭和59〜61年度に津軽海峡線の建設工事に伴い、（財）北海道埋蔵文化財センターによって15,033平方メートルの発掘調査が行われ、3冊の報告書（北埋調報33・43・52）が刊行されている。今回の調査範囲はＢ・Ｃ・Ｄ・Ｇ地区の隣接地になる。　今回の報告範囲は、Ｊ・Ｋ・Ｌの３つの地区にわけて調査を行った。遺構は、竪穴住居跡10軒、土坑34基、フラスコ状土坑7基、柱穴様小ピット52基、焼土14か所、盛土遺構1か所を検出した。竪穴住居跡のうち後期後葉の4軒は、焼失住居である。フラスコ状土坑は、前期後半3基、後期前葉３基、後期後葉１基である。盛土遺構は後期前葉のもので、Ｂ地区からＧ地区につらなるものの一部が確認されている。　遺物は、土器23,953点、石器等20,369点の合計44,332点が出土している。土器は、縄文時代後期前葉と晩期中葉が多く、次いで中期前半・後期後葉・前期後半のものが続く。石器は石鏃・スクレイパー・たたき石・すり石が多く出土している。土製品は土偶・有孔土製円盤・象嵌土製品・焼成粘土塊など、石製品は異形石器・石刀・有孔石製品・軽石製模造品などが出土している。
