Note (General): 新家遺跡はこれまで５回の調査が実施されており、今回の調査地は最も東側に位置する。今回の調査では弥生時代後期の河道を検出したところ、河道に沿うように半完形の土器が並んで出土した。何らかの儀礼の痕跡かもしれない。古墳時代前期に形成された洪水堆積層中から、中部瀬戸内地域の酒津式の甕が見つかった。古墳時代中期から後期になると、微高地に柱穴や溝・土坑とともに須恵器・土師器が出土しており、一帯が居住域として利用されていた可能性がある。古代以降は耕地として利用されたようである。
