江戸時代を通じて盛岡藩主であった南部氏は、慶長2 年（1597）から居城として総石垣の盛岡城の築城を開始し、その北側に重臣屋敷の並ぶ外曲輪を配して堀で囲んだ。そのさらに外側に堀と土塁を廻らせたのが遠曲輪で、東西約1.2km・南北約1.5kmにわたる長大な遺跡である。本書掲載の第22・23次調査区は遺...
