Note (General): 下花輪荒井前遺跡は，江戸川の東岸の標高19ｍ前後の台地上に立地する。　遺跡の時期は縄文時代早期と弥生時代中期に大きく分かれる。縄文時代早期については，野島式土器を主体とし，炉穴群と竪穴住居跡が検出されている。　弥生時代中期については，方形周溝墓群と竪穴建物跡が検出され，方形周溝墓の主体部と考えられる土坑も認められた。いずれからも弥生時代中期紅葉の土器が出土し，短期間のうちに墳墓と集落が近接して営まれていたことになる。出土土器は北島式系統のものと宮ノ台系統のもの，さらに磨消縄文を特徴とするものが混在し，文化圏の接点的な様相を示している。
