近年抗炎症性作用をもつ脂質メディエーターが炎症性疾患の治癒過程において重要な役割を果たし、炎症の慢性化を防ぐといった新たな知見が散見されるようになった。また誤嚥・誤飲を契機に発症する誤嚥性肺炎は、高齢患者に多く70 歳以上の肺炎入院患者における約60%に発症すると言われており、時に重篤化することが知られている。今回申請者は本疾患のマウスモデルを作製し、抗炎症性脂質メディエーターを投与した。その結果誤嚥性肺炎が軽減されることを見出し、今後臨床の現場においても新たな治療法につながる可能性が示唆された。
