DDAH2過剰発現マウスは、内因性NOS阻害物質のADMAを代謝し局所活性酸素低下作用を有するが、膵局所でも局所酸化ストレスの低下を認めるかを検討したところ、膵局所酸化ストレスの低下を認めた。また、WT(コントロール)マウスに高脂肪食を給餌し、膵島を単離し解析したところ、膵局所のADMAが上昇し、DDAH2過剰発現マウスにおいては膵局所ADMAの低下を認め、膵臓局所NOの産生亢進、酸化ストレス低下をもたらした。以上の機序からDDAH2過剰発現マウスは糖尿病発症時の膵インスリン分泌亢進を認めた。
