本研究は, 大企業組織において, 組織全体のマネジメントを担う立場の女性を「女性上級管理職」と呼び, 彼女たちが力を発揮できている組織マネジメントのもつ仕組みの特徴を明らかにすると共に, 女性上級管理職自身のマネジメント能力とはいかなるものであるのかを明確にすることを目的した。研究の結果, 現・女性上級管理職の昇進には, 本人の積極的な実績の存在とともに, それを評価する上司の存在が非常に大きいことが発見された。
