難治性造血器腫瘍である多発性骨髄腫の克服を目指し、①治療薬サリドマイドの分子機構の解明、②血管新生増殖因子の分子標的、③新規化合物による骨病変の改善効果ついて検討した。その結果、我々は新規サリドマイド誘導体を合成し、その結合分子として細胞分裂に必須の蛋白質を同定した。可溶性線維芽細胞増殖因子受容体1を用いて骨髄腫細胞の分子標的を行ったところ、in vitroにおいて増殖抑制傾向が観察された。また、上記の新規サリドマイド誘導体は、マウス破骨細胞の分化や機能を抑制し、骨病変改善効果が期待された。
