急性拒絶反応、慢性拒絶反応にT細胞のみではなく、B細胞が重要な役割を演じていることが近年、知られている。血液型不適合肝移植ならびに骨髄移植における患者末梢血のB細胞をhumanized-NOGマウスを用いてex-vivoでドナー抗原にて感作し、坑ドナー抗体産生能を評価した。その結果、未熟なB細胞が成熟していく段階で臓器内の抗原に反応性のB細胞クローンが消去され免疫寛容にいたることが示された。B細胞除去により慢性拒絶の抑制、更にはT細胞免疫にも寛容が得られる可能性が示された。
