ヒト成人の大脳左半球に局在する言語機能が生後どのように発達するのかという知見は、言語の進化という観点からも意義深いにも係わらず、ほとんど明らかにされていない。本研究は多チャンネル近赤外分光法(NIRS)を用いて、各種音韻や音声言語の獲得に伴う大脳側頭部の左右半球機能差の発達的変化を明らかにし、モデル化することを目的としている。母語、非母語音声に対する脳活動や行動反応を0-1歳の乳児(日本人、フランス人)について計測し、その結果を「音声言語獲得の大脳半球側性化モデル」として提案し、論文に発表した。
