本研究では有機的な医工連携研究を通じて「実世界ハプティクス技術」を発展させ、人間個人の身体性に基づくスキルの抽出や転写、身体機能の延伸拡張が実現可能な「人間支援理工学基盤技術」を構築した。さらに、構築した基盤技術を学術的に体系化すると共に、人間の知覚に基づく身体支援を実現する科学的方法論を外科手術へと援用しその有用性を実証した。
