確率論における重要な確率分布である無限分解可能分布の代表的なものに自己分解可能分布がある。それを拡張した新しい概念「α-自己分解可能分布」を提案し、新しい数学的な結果を得ると同時に、そのもとでそれまでの関連する結果を統一的に整理した。その応用の一例として、2次元ガンマ分布は自己分解可能ではないが、それが属するクラスを拡張したクラス群の中から特定した。また、狭義安定分布のレヴィ過程に関する確率積分による特徴づけの完全な証明に成功した。
