加齢黄斑変性は我が国における中途失明の主な原因となっており、病態メカニズムの早急な解明が望まれている。我々はこの度、アンギオポイエンチン様タンパク-2(Angptl2)の加齢黄斑変性病態への関与について検討を行った。正常網膜において、Angptl2は網膜色素上皮に発現を認めていたが、CNV形成時には病変周囲に強い発現を認め、マクロファージ遊走や脈絡膜新生血管形成に関与している可能性が考えられた。また、培養細胞を用いた検討では、いくつかの炎症性サイトカインによってAngptl2の発現変化を認めており、Angptl2が炎症シグナルに関与していることが示唆された。
