• Note (General): type:text; ソフトロボティクスは，近年活発にお研究が進んでいる分野である．従来のロボットと比較して，ソフトロボットはアクチュエーション機能を利用することで複雑な動きが容易に実現できる為，応用範囲が広く，故に特徴付けや分析を行う重要性が非常に高い． ソフトロボットは，生物をモチーフにしたものが多く，自然界の動物や昆虫，植物などの動きを模倣し，大きな変形を実現する．例えばソフトアームは，その把持における分散荷重によって不定形な物体のピッキングが可能であったり，臨機応変な挙動を示せて狭く複雑かつ一定ではない形状の空間での作業などが可能である．このような特徴を持つソフトロボットは，食品技術，生物学，外科手術など様々な分野での応用が期待されている． これまで，様々なタイプのソフトアームが提案されてきたが，その力学的特性や材料特性に応じた最適化原理はまだ明らかになっていない．よってここでは，空気圧制御で駆動するしなやかなグリッパーの簡単な把持実験について研究している． 空気圧を制御することで，グリッパーの曲率を大きくし，硬い円柱を抱き込む．硬い円柱を並進させてグリッパーを変形させ，グリッパーがどのように円柱を巻き戻そうとするかを明らかにした． また，巻き戻し時の臨界摺動力を測定し，グリッパーの把持における弾性，幾何学，摩擦の役割を明らかにした．今回の成果により，特定の用途に応じたアクチュエータをオンデマンドで設計できるようになり，幾何学的・材料的非線形性に依存した新しい機能への道が開けると期待している． Soft robots are often inspired by living organisms and mimic the motion of animals, insects, and plants in nature, realizing large deformation. For example, soft arms are allowed to grasp fragile objects through distributed loads. With these characteristics, soft robots have a high potential for application in a variety of fields, including food technologies, life science, and surgery. Although various types of soft arms have been proposed, their optimization principle is still not clear thus far. Here, we study the simple gripping experiment of a flexible gripper driven by pneumatic control. By controlling the air pressure, we increase the curvature of the gripper and then embrace a rigid cylinder. We translate the rigid cylinder to unwrap the gripper to uncover how the gripper unrolls the cylinder. The critical sliding force for unwrapping is measured to characterize the role of elasticity, geometry, and friction in gripping processes. We expect that our results will enable us to design actuators for specific applications on demand and paves the way for new functionality relying on geometric and material nonlinearities.
