Note (General): 本研本研究では中世曹洞宗に於いて地蔵信仰が受容され、活用されるようになった過程を考察した。日本曹洞宗の宗祖と云うべき道元は地蔵信仰を積極的には評価していなかった。従来、三祖義介が密教的要素を導入したと云われてきたが、そうではないことを本研究では明らかにした。曹洞宗に現世利益的要素を導入したのは義介の弟子、瑩山である。瑩山の弟子、峨山が神人化度説話を導入した。峨山の弟子には地蔵信仰を活用する者が現れた。しかし、本格的に地蔵信仰が活用されるようになるのは、峨山の孫弟子の代、即ち1400年頃である。
