Note (General): 本研究は、聖堂における「場」の機能という観点から、同時代のビザンティン人がエレウサ型聖母子像をどのように理解・利用したのかという問題の解明を目指した。本研究を通じて、エレウサが後期ビザンティン期(13～15世紀)には葬送の文脈においても理解されうるインティメイトな図像として、私的信仰の領域に導入されたことが明らかになった。
This research aimed to explain how contemporary Byzantines understood and used the image of Virgin Eleusa by observing the function of "topos" in churches. As a result, the researcher discovered that during the late Byzantine period (13 through 15^<th> century) the image was introduced into the realm of private faith as an intimate image that can also be understood in the funereal context.
