現時点では劣性遺伝性疾患の原因分子とされる有害遺伝子変異（ABCG5遺伝子、ABCG8遺伝子、アポE遺伝子、LDLRAP1遺伝子）の集積を確認し（約10％の症例）、これらの遺伝子変異の存在により、LDLコレステロール値上昇や冠動脈疾患のリスクが高まることを示すことができた。現在家族性高コレステロール血症の原因遺伝子とされる、LDL受容体遺伝子、アポB遺伝子、PCSK9遺伝子に加えて、ABCG5遺伝子、ABCG8遺伝子、アポE遺伝子、LDLRAP1遺伝子の有害変異の存在を調査することにより、さらなる冠動脈疾患高リスク患者の抽出が可能であることを見出した。
We found that rare as well as deleterious mutations in genes known as causative genes for recessive lipid disorders were associated with increased LDL cholesterol level among Japanese patients with hyper LDL cholesterolemia.
