Note (General): 金沢大学がん進展制御研究所
正常細胞のWnt経路制御作用からがん抑制的に働く機能分子と認識されているglycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β)の大腸がんへの関与に着目した. そして, GSK3βの過剰発現やそのリン酸化による酵素活性調節の破綻ががん細胞の生存や増殖を維持・推進するという, Wnt経路抑制機能とは異なる病的作用を発見した. その後, GSK3β阻害の制がん効果を消化器がん細胞と担がん動物で実証し, 本酵素が新しいがん治療標的であると提唱した. 現在までに, その制がん効果ががん抑制分子経路に依存するという結果をえて, 膵がんや脳悪性腫瘍などの難治性がんに対象を広げて分子機構を解析している.
