本研究は,数学の授業において「学校知」が形成されてゆくプロセスの一端を,実際の授業を観察し,そこにおいて反復して生起する社会的相互作用のパターン,あるいはそのパターンの背後にある暗黙のルールを記述するとともに,そのような組織的なパターンが教師と生徒の相互作用的作業によって安定したルーティンとして社会的に構成される過程を,構成的エスノグラフィーという方法論を用いて実証的に明らかにすることを目的とした。この目的に鑑み,金沢大学附属小学校第一,第四,第五学年の算数の授業を週3回,第三学期のみ非参与観察をする。各授業をビデオ記録し,各授業ごとにそのプロトコールを作成した。分析方法は,まず,2か月間の授業のプロトコールから,特に教師が相互作用を執拗にネゴシエ-トする場面や,生徒の授業参加をする上でのルール違反が制裁される場面に注目しながら「学校知」の特質とその形成過程に関する仮設を抜き出した・次に,これらの仮設を以後の授業の相互作用において説明できるかを吟味しながら、当初の仮設を修正,棄却しながらより妥当性のある命題に洗練していった。その結果,それぞれのクラスにつき、「学校知」の形成上,影響があると考えられる教師と児童との相互行為の特徴の一端が見いだされた。
