キリスト教の典礼空間において内陣障壁（カンケッリ）は、信徒の空間と聖職者が儀式を行う空間を区別する役割を担っている。本研究は、初期中世の内陣障壁の残存例の現地調査をフランス南東部を中心に行い、作例の形態、材質、装飾、由来する聖堂の歴史などのデータ化、分類、分析を進めた。また、うろこ模様、格子模様、ロゼット模様、組みひも模様など、内陣障壁に特徴的な装飾についての広範囲の資料・文献収集を行い、分析研究を行った。During the Early Middle Ages, the chancel, which separated the priests and the faithful, was considered to be one of the main sanctuary decorations. This study focuses on remnant sculpted chancel fragments, particularly in the South of France and Italy. I studied several specific decorative motifs for this liturgical furniture, including scales, rosettes, and interlaces, examining their origins, meanings, and local particularities.
