Note (General): カメラ画像を使い月着陸時に障害物を回避する方法として、shape from shading の理論と解法について検討した。解法としては Tsai & Shah法とPentland 法を合成画像と実画像を使い評価した。処理の安定性と高速性の点からPentland法が優れているが、線型近似による形状復元精度の低下を再認した。実時間処理が可能なシステムとして、画像を分割してその領域の平坦度をPentland法により判定することにより、着陸可能な平坦地を抽出することを提案する。
The shape-from-shading technique is surveyed for application to obstacle avoidance for lunar landing. Tsai and Shah's algorithm is accurate, but it is time-consuming and sensitive to its boundary condition. Pentland's algorithm is robust and fast; however, it produces artifacts in reconstruction. We propose a real-time scheme of extracting flat areas instead of obstacles with Pentland’s method.
