Notes on use

Note (General):

Note (General)
This document was written by ŌTA Nanpo, published in 1832, and appended a “Ryukyu Zatsuwa (Miscellaneous stories)” about Ryukyu in the last half. Since it specifies a “Kyōkaen collection” on it, this document is presumed to be one of Shokusanjin (another name of ŌTA)'s posthumous work. Its content is not the one written by KABO Motoyoshi in 1788 altogether. According to MIYATAKE Gaikotsu ‘s Hikka Shi, these annals had gone out of print, and it was somewhat relevant to foreword that was provided by TŌJŌ Shinkō (also known as Kindai). After publishing his Izu Shichito Zenzu, TŌJŌ was kept his custody by the Shogunate. ŌTA Nanpo had an opportunity to obtain the knowledge of foreign culture when he was designated to transfer to Osaka and Nagasaki during Kyōwa era. ŌTA Nanpo died in 1823. After his death, the apprentices made his writings accessible to the public.
