- 国策紙芝居とは、昭和初年から20年の敗戦までに、戦争を鼓舞するプロパガンダ(宣伝活動)のため、政府関係者や軍関係団体などが紙芝居製作会社に作らせた1,000点に及ぶ紙芝居のこと。本書は、神奈川大学非文字資料研究センターが2012年度に購入した241点の国策紙芝居(櫻本富雄氏旧蔵)を紹介したもの。「Ⅰ 解題篇」では、出版年月日順に各紙芝居のあらすじ、解題をカラー図版とともに収載。「Ⅱ 論考篇」では、戦時下の紙芝居についての総論や、植民地台湾の紙芝居活動など6人の研究者たちによる論考を収載。「Ⅲ データ篇」では、「戦時下紙芝居全国調査【暫定版】データ篇」(タイトルの五十音順に、国会図書館など14機関の所蔵などを記す)、「復刻雑誌『教育紙芝居・紙芝居』広告等データ」(所蔵館不明の戦時下の紙芝居380点をタイトルの五十音順に排列)などを収載。
