- 釈宗演 洪岳宗演。明治大正期の臨済宗の僧。1860年、若狭国生まれ。慶応義塾卒。禅をZENとして欧米に伝えた僧侶として知られる。1893（明治26）年のシカゴ万国宗教会議に参加。このとき通訳として同行した鈴木大拙が、後に禅を欧米に広めた。また夏目漱石、徳富蘇峰などにも影響を与えた。著書多数。1919...
