編曲家（アレンジャー）の集合体として創立され、現在ではあらゆるジャンルの作曲家・編曲家が集う団体が「日本作編曲家協会（Japan Composers and Arrangers Association・以下JCAA）」です。
そんな音楽作家のプロフェッショナル集団「JCAA」が創立から半世紀を経たのを機に、日本作編曲家協会の50周年記念本として企画された本書。
そのメインコンテンツはJCAA会員各氏に対するインタビュー記事となります。
すぎやまこういち、萩田光雄、千住明、三枝成彰、宮川彬良など誰もが知る大御所から、田中公平、戸田信子など新旧のアニメ楽曲で人気の作曲家まで、JCAAに所属する会員から約55人をピックアップし、いかにして作編曲家になったか、また後進の音楽家へのメッセージをいただきました。
さらに、筒美京平、宮川泰、前田憲男、羽田健太郎など、すでに他界された過去の会員各氏が、日本の音楽業界に残した偉大な功績などもフィーチャーします。
