「多数の症例をもとに，骨粗鬆症の診療経験がない方でも実践できるエッセンスが満載！」
わが国は未曾有の超高齢社会を迎えており，高齢者の健康寿命延伸は喫緊の課題である．骨粗鬆症の高齢者に生じる脆弱性骨折は要介護の原因となるだけでなく，生命予後も悪化させる．
しかしながら，骨粗鬆症治療の重要性が臨床現場で十分に認識されているとはいいがたい．自覚症状がなく，診断されないまま経過し，脆弱性骨折を契機に骨粗鬆症と診断されるケースが多い．片側の大腿骨近位部骨折を発症した場合，対側にも発症するリスクが高いため，骨粗鬆症治療を導入してフォローアップを行う必要性が高いが，実際には術後に治療が導入されないケースも多い．
「骨粗鬆症の予防と治療ガイドライン2015年版」は本領域における代表的なガイドラインだが，分量が多く必要な情報を得るのに時間がかかる．その点，本書はコンパクトでエッセンスが詰まっていて，診療の合間にも使いやすい．
