作家の体験を赤裸々に描いた私小説は諸外国にはない日本独自の小説形態である。そのほとんどが短編中編だが『スーパーヒーローズ』は500枚の長編小説。主人公・二三（ふみ）の幼少時代から大人になるまでが描き出されている。彼女が追い求めるのはテレビゲームの〝スーパーヒーローズ〟たち。ひたすら殴り合う筋肉隆々の男たちだが二三は女になるのを拒否しているわけではない。LGBTでもフェミニストでもない。女であることが男のような肉体的強さ、敏捷さを与えないとわかると女であることを受け入れなおかつ〝スーパーヒーローズ〟なるものを追い求める。彼らは未知の存在だから二三は思春期になるとセックスに憧れやがて実践し失望する。やがて求めても求めても得られないスーパーヒーローズたちは様々に形を変えてゆく。それは偶然出合った一人のアメリカ人の美少年に集約される。美しいだけの少年。二三に無関心の年下の男の子だからその少年が二三のイデアになる。しかしそれも幻想。二三の希求は地上を離れ天上に向かう。その果ては･･･。日本独自の私小説でありながら秘密の暴露などは一切なく、ひたすらにイデアを追い求める一人の女性の純粋な魂の軌跡！
