- 日本共産党よ、私の除名は違法である！活発な党内論議を可視化し、より国民に近しい共産党であることが今こそ日本の政治に必要だと確信して前著『シン・日本共産党宣言』で党首公選を提唱した著者。しかし刊行直後、党から告げられたのは思いもよらぬ「除名」の二文字だった！ 半世紀近くにわたり党員として真面目に活動し、政策委員会では安保外交部長も歴任した著者に対するあまりに一方的で苛烈な処分。著者が党規約に則って再審査を求めている間も、『赤旗』紙上や党幹部の発言による名誉棄損を含む人格攻撃キャンペーンは続いた。約一年後、「再審査請求却下」という党大会の結果を受け、ついに著者は除名撤回と党員としての地位確認を求めて東京地裁に提訴。党を訴えてでも党員に戻りたい――。その真意とこれまでのてんまつを詳らかにする。2023年2月5日に日本共産党より除名処分を受けて以降に著者がおこなった、佐藤優（作家・元外務省主任分析官）、内田樹（思想家・神戸女学院大学名誉教授）両氏との“シン・日本共産党批判”ともいうべき豪華対談を所収。
