「これからがん診療に携わる医学生・若手医師のための，腫瘍内科学の理解を深めるための入門教科書」
本書は，日本臨床腫瘍学会により編纂された，がん診療に関わる医学生・研修医を主な読者対象とした教科書である．本書は，「腫瘍内科学」という専門領域に初めて触れる学習者にとって最良の導入書となるべく企画され，2009 年のがん診療体制の転換期に初版が発行された．近年では，がん薬物療法の進歩，分子標的治療や免疫チェックポ
イント阻害薬の登場，がんゲノム医療の実用化といった劇的な変化を受け，内容が大幅にアップデートされており，最新の改訂第4 版もその流れを反映したものである．
腫瘍内科は，がん患者に対して薬物療法を中心とした全身治療を担う診療科であり，近年その専門性と重要性が飛躍的に増している．しかし，その一方で，医学部のカリキュラムにおける腫瘍内科の教育は依然として限られており，学生や初期研修医が臨床現場で戸惑うケースも少なくない．本書は，そうした現場のニーズに応える形で，がんの基礎知識から治療の実際に至るまでを網羅的かつ平易に解説し，学習者が“腫瘍内科的思考”を身につけるための橋渡しとなることを目的としている．
