- ※電子版では、紙の雑誌と内容が一部異なる場合や掲載されないページ、付録が含まれない場合がございます。予めご了承下さい。ついに300巻を超えた長い歴史の「RM LIBRARY」から、過去の傑作巻を2～3冊分まとめて復刻する「RM Re-Library（アールエム リ・ライブラリー）」。シリーズ41巻目は、RMライブラリー第213～215巻「国鉄DD13形ディーゼル機関車（上・中・下）（共に岩成政和 著）」を復刻いたします。 DD13形は国鉄時代に入換や小運転用として多数が製造され活躍した中型機関車。その製造数はDE10形、DD51形に次いで第3位という大所帯でしたが、JRには1両も引き継がれずに全車廃車となってしまいました。しかしその確立した液体式動力伝達方式などは後年のDLに与えた影響が大きく、今なお各地の臨海鉄道に亜流機が活躍するほど。とはいえ、花形列車を牽いたり魅力的なロケーションを走ったり…ということがそもそもあまりなく、その活躍は終生都会の片隅がメインであり、ファンが残した記録が少なく、今となっては不明な点も多数残されてしまっているのが実情です。本書は多数の原典資料や写真類から、次数別の形態分類を試み、通説とは異なる点、後年の改造により矛盾が生じている点などを逐一明らかにしていきます。特に増備途中から加わった重連型と寒地型に関する章は、従来発表されていた文献より以上に踏み込んだ考察を行っており、DD13という機関車をより深く理解することができるものとなっています。各種図面や模型製作にも好適な細部写真等も多数収録されており、まさに決定版となる一冊と言えるでしょう。
