- 一般市民に必要とされる遺伝の知識と学校での遺伝教育の乖離や子どものいじめ等の問題が見られる．私達はヒトの遺伝の本質である「唯一性」と「多様性」を伝えていくことを通して，１人１人の違いを認め，命の大切さを学び，自分と周囲の人々を大切にすることに繋がるような学習の機会の提供を目的とし，2003年から毎年対象や方法を工夫しながら遺伝公開講座を開催してきた． ７回目の遺伝公開講座を平成21年８月19日，36名の参加者で開催した．公開講座では，ワシントン大学 The Genetic Program および BSCS 社 GENES AND SORROUNDINGS の中から小学校高学年用の学習プログラムの検討を重ねた独自の参加型の学習プログラムを使用した．自分の身体に現れた遺伝形質を『特徴』として，小学生が自分や他の参加者の『特徴』を実験や観察を通して楽しみながら理解できるように計画し，１．Propylthipuracil の味，２．特徴探し，３．遺伝の木，４．特徴ゲームの４つのプログラムで構成した． 参加者36名からアンケートの回答があり，参加しておもしろかった96.8％，わかりやすかった100％，このような企画があればまた参加したい96.9％と評価していた． また，今回は日本学術振興会「ひらめき☆ときめきサイエンス」の助成を受けて実施した．保健学研究, 23(1), pp.25-30; 2011
