Note (General): 本研究は、中国における日本語主専攻学習者を対象に、教育・社会環境、大学入試制度の視点を入れながら、日本語学習の動機減退という現象に注目するものでる。具体的には以下のような3つの観点から検討する。（1）学習者全体の動機減退要因の構造、(2)中国における教育発展の地域格差が大きいという教育・社会環境を考慮し、学習動機に影響すると推測される特別的要因「学習者の出身地」と動機減退の関連、（3）学習動機の強弱を左右する可能性のある「専攻の振り分け」という大学入試制度による学習者の動機減退要因の相違である。教育・社会環境、大学入試制度の視点から日本語学習者の動機づけを研究するに当たって、研究背景として、中国の行政区画、教育制度など社会的基盤となる戸籍制度、教育・社会環境の独自性、中国現代高等教育の発展概況、大学入学制度、日本語教育の発展状況、日本語主専攻学習者の特徴などを理解しなければならない。そこで、本章では、まず、中国の行政区画、戸籍制度、現代高等教育の発展状況を紹介し、本研究の論点と関わる中国における教育の地域格差の現状と大学入学制度を記述する。次に、国際交流基金世界日本語教育機関調査（2008,2011,2013,2017a,2017b）に基づき、中国における日本語教育の歴史的発展と変化、現状を詳細に示す。最後に、本研究の研究対象となる日本語主専攻学習者の特徴を述べる。
