Note (General): 中村惕斎（寛永六1629～元禄十五1702）原撰『訓蒙図彙』二〇巻は、日本最初の絵入り百科事典である。本論文は、現存版本四種、①寛文六年（1666）刊初版『訓蒙図彙』二〇巻、②寛文八年（1668）刊『増補訓蒙図彙』二〇巻、③元禄八年（1695）刊『頭書増補訓蒙図彙』二一巻、④寛政元年（1789）刊『頭書増補訓蒙図彙大成』二一巻を対象とし、書誌調査、出典研究、情報学のオントロジ（分類体系の構造）研究を行った。③元禄版本は、本文形式、項目、版面が大きく変容し、その背後に庶民の歓心を買おうとする商業的な大衆化の意図がある。④寛政版本は、元禄版本を黙殺し、初版本へ回帰しようと志向した。①初版本は、部立・分類は明代の類書『三才図会』から大きな影響を受け、図像は『三才図会』『本草綱目』から大きな影響を受け、明代の書物・文化を吸収しつつ、独自の版面構成と項目の配列を工夫した。また、①初版本の版面構成は、「属対」・四字句になっており、幼学書『千字文』『蒙求』の対語形式を継承している。日本最初の絵入り百科事典『訓蒙図彙』は幼学書という特質を兼ね備え、先駆的な役割を果たし、後世に多大な影響を与え、その影響が海外にも及ぼしていた。
