住民コミュニティを形成・維持する場となる空間のあり方を考察するため、団地の共用空間とそこで行われる地蔵盆の空間的な特質について調査・分析を行った。団地の共用空間内に存在する地蔵祠の分布と配置から、共用空間の潜在的な許容性と融通性が確認できた。また、団地内で行われる地蔵盆行事の広がりからは、共用空間の緩やかな分節が、行事の多様性を支えていることを明らかにした。これらの検証によって共用空間における寛容性が、持続可能なコミュニティに重要であると結論づけた。
