Note (General): 『水滸』図像の発展の流れを遡り、両国で最も名高い『水滸』挿絵及び『水滸』の人物画像を中心に比較研究を展開する。中国明時代(1610)容与堂刊本『李卓吾批評忠義水滸伝』の挿絵と日本江戸期（1805～1838）葛飾北斎の『新編水滸画伝』の挿絵を、明崇禎末年（1641年）陳洪綬の版画『水滸葉子』と江戸期（1818～1844）歌川国芳の錦絵『通俗水滸伝豪傑百八人之一個』を例として比較研究を行い、両者の図像における人物造形、ストーリーとの関連性の比較を通し、両国の絵師たちの作品に含まれる思想性、文化の特徴を見る。筆者は中国と日本の『水滸』画像の特徴を分析し、図像に含む両国の文化の特徴も指摘し、そして自分の作品を通し、中国古典文学を題材した作品の創作について自分の考えを述べる。
