Note (General)：: 文人画家。法衣商の次男。国学、漢学、仏教、詩文を学ぶ。幕末に国事に奔走し、,維新後は各地の神社の宮司となる。その後は京都にて読書と画業に専念し、京都画壇の重鎮となる。帝室技芸員、帝国美術院会員を務めた。その膨大な蔵書は売立会により散佚した。
