Analysis：: モデルは作者の妹ゆき。画の特徴から野島が東京美術学校を卒業する前後の作と思われる。当時女学生であった妹が、菊花の写生にはげむ姿を描いている。戦後、野島は日展で舞妓などの女性美を追求するが、本作はその志向を示した早い時期の作品といえる。(Provided by: デジタルアーカイブシステムADEAC)
