- 南浦文之(1555~1620年)は、日向国飫肥出身の臨済宗の僧侶である。1602年、島津氏の招きで大竜寺の開山となり、それ以降、薩摩藩の政治・外交に重要な役割を担った。南浦は幼いころから学問に秀でており、儒学、宋学、朱子学を修め、桂庵玄樹を始祖とする薩南学派の朱子学を引き継いだ。和訓を改良した独自の訓点(文之訓)を創始し、この「南浦文集」などの漢籍に訓点を施した。NAMPO Bunshi (1555-1620) was born in the Obi Domain, Hyūga Province. He was a Buddhist Monk of Rinzaishu, one of the Buddhism sections. After Dairyū Temple was established in 1602, NAMPO was invited by the Shimazu Clan and begin to play an important role in politics and diplomat affairs for the Satsuma Domain. NAMPO had an outstanding performance in academics and mastered in Confucianism, also Sòng-Míng lǐxué (schools of Son Dynasty) and Neo-Confuciansim. He became the sucessor of Satsunan Gakuha-a school of Neo-Confucianism founded by KEIAN Genju. NAMPO improved the Japanese reading system of Chinese characters and created his own punctuation system (Bunshikun), which he applied to this material and other Chinese books.
