- 小西重直（1875～1948）…こにし･しげなお。教育者。山形県米沢市出身。京都帝国大学第9代総長（1933.3～1933.7）。京大総長在任時に滝川事件が起こり、斎藤内閣の文相鳩山一郎から法学部教授滝川幸辰の罷免要求が来た際にそれを拒絶し、辞職に追い込まれた。在任期間は歴代総長中最短。その後、興亜工業大学（現･千葉工業大学）等の創設に携わり、戦後も開墾や戦争孤児への教育に力を注いだ。
