Exploring Japanese Landmarks in Nishiki-e and Photographs

Shokoku Meisho Hyakkei (One Hundred Views of Famous Places in the Provinces)

Shokoku Meisho Hyakkei (One Hundred Views of Famous Places in the Provinces) is a series of nishiki-e prints produced by UTAGAWA Hiroshige II between 1859 and 1861. The publisher was Uoya Eikichi, the same company that published Meisho Edo hyakkei (One Hundred Famous Views of Edo), and extra care was also taken with the engraving and printing techniques used. Production began a few months after Hiroshige II took his name as the second generation Hiroshige.
