Exploring Japanese Landmarks in Nishiki-e and Photographs

Dogo Onsen

A hot spring located in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. It is described in Iyonokuni Fudoki and Manyoshu and is considered one of the three oldest hot springs in Japan. The main building of Dogo Onsen (Shinrokaku) was built in the Meiji era and is an Important Cultural Property. It is famous as the setting of Bo-chan, written by NATSUME Soseki.
